Last Wednesday I received my first ever bulk buy of food. I ordered it from a website (http://www.foodsforfitness.co.uk/) that sells fresh meat, egg whites, veg, grains and cottage cheese catered to fitness professionals, bodybuilders and athletes. The meat is provided by Ormans Butchers in Stockport, selling it in multipacks or in assorted value stacks.
Since it was my first time and im about to go on a crazy two week shredding/fat loss gym routine (will be reviewing how i get on at a later date with the supplements I used during that phase) figured I should get one of the big value stacks to get a taste of everything almost (.. being distracted by the vast quantity of meat I forgot to add Cottage Cheese at the end -.-). The stack I went for was the 'Bulk Up Saver Stack' at £69.99 (http://www.foodsforfitness.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=37).
Below is the list of items you get with it;
- 20 Fresh Chicken Fillets 2.8 kilo min
- 8 Turkey Breast Steaks 1.6 kilo
- 1 Fresh Whole Chicken 1.8 kilo
- 4 Tender Rump Steaks 1.0 kilo
- Lean Beef Steak Strips 1.0 kilo
- Turkey Breast Stir fry Strips 1.0 kilo
- Tender Beef Minute Steaks 500 g
- Minced Chicken Breast 500 g
- Cashew Nuts unsalted 500 g
- Cous Cous 1.0 kilo
- Brown Rice 1.0 kilo
- Mornflake Oats 1.0 kilo
- Liquid Egg Whites 1.0 kilo
When it arrived I was quite amazed and happy at how well packaged it was. The box was quite massive, well sealed and inside the food was all in many layers of bags and protection surrouned by foiled card to keep the nice cold temperature in the box provided by 3 massive ice packs. This is a lot better then when I ordered some food samples from a similar business. Oh and it came within two days, I presume its all next day delivery since parts of the website (delivery information included) is not working. Overall I give delivery and packaging 8/10 would be higher If the delivery information was present on the website and during ordering.
The meat quality is amazing, you can tell you are not getting the same frozen chicken breasts from a supermarket. The packs are big but soon as you take the meat out it doubles in size almost (never knew turkey breast steaks were so massive!). Ive already cooked nearly half the meats for the next week to come, a packet of brown rice and used the egg whites the other morning for breakfast and so far everything tastes dapper! No upset tummy or any issues, will have to see after the next 2 weeks or so once ive consumed it all to give a final verdict but so far its been pretty great. Food quality overall 9/10 but then again it could be less cause im not a professional chef or butcher but the food tastes amazing and is filling. Cant complain.
